Dette var også første gang FN-generalsekretærens nye spesialkoordinator Tor Wennesland briefet rådet. Norge tar med seg bred erfaring fra Midtøsten og en konsistent politikk gjennom flere tiår inn i rådet. Norge ønsker å bidra til at det kommer i gang substansielle forhandlinger om uløste spørsmål mellom israelerne og palestinerne.
