At the UN Biodiversity Summit, #COP15, Minister @maisarojas of Chile and I have been responsible for facilitating negotiations on fair and equitable sharing of benefits from the use of digital sequence information on genetic resources. This is one of three main components of a possible “Paris Agreement for Nature”. Like our colleagues facilitating the two other tracks, we have been actively engaging with all negotiating groups of all state parties to the UN Convention, and our proposed text is in our best judgment the expression of the overall thrust of these consultations. \n\nSaturday morning, we proudly presented a “clean text” (bracket-free) proposal to COP15 president, Minister Huang Runqiu. During the course of the day, the two other pairs of Ministerial facilitators, on ambition level and resource mobilization, were able to do the same. Now the presidency is working on compiling a holistic and ambitious proposal. It is time for grand strategy. \n\nThis Sunday will be a crucial day in the quest for resetting humankind’s relationship to nature. We need to stop destroying Mother Earth and move our economy into nature positive mode. It can be done! \n🐝🌱🐳🐼🧬🔬🌍🇺🇳
