Illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing is one of the most serious threats to ocean sustainability. It decimates vulnerable stocks, robs nations of their marine resources, undermines fisheries management, unbalances markets, jeopardises food security and fuels crime. By definition, no one knows how much IUU activity is taking place around the world – but some estimate that it accounts for as much as 30% of total catches. Combating IUU fishing is an international priority. In the past, governments
